The VanGiri Award for Best Research/ Review Article on Wildlife Health and Management & The GiriVan Award for best Clinical Case Study/ Short Communication

The Association of Indian Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians is introducing two prestigious awards to recognize special contributions to publications related to Wildlife science and Veterinary medicine. The VanGiri Award for Best Research/ Review article on Wildlife Health and Management and the GiriVan Award for Best Case Study/ Short communication.

The Awards are supported Dr R.G Jani. Former Professor (Veterinary Medicine) & Coordinator Indian Wildlife Health Cooperative (Western Region), Anand Veterinary College, Gujarat in honour of his parents Smt Vanita and Shri Girijashanker Jani. The awards aim to recognise individuals whose work advances knowledge, practices, and innovation in Indian Wildlife Management, Conservation, and Veterinary Care.

The VanGiri Award for Best  Research/ Review on Wildlife health and management is to be presented to an author whose study demonstrates excellence in research, analysis, and communication. Articles eligible for this award must demonstrate originality, depth, and clarity while addressing key challenges or breakthroughs in wildlife conservation. They must provide insights that can guide policy, management, or community participation in preserving India’s rich biodiversity.

The GiriVan Award for Best Clinical Case Study/ Short Communication is to be awarded to veterinarians and wildlife health professionals who document unique clinical cases  or provide short communication on any aspects of wildlife health and management in captive or free ranging wildlife. It recognizes case studies/ short communications that combine scientific rigor, innovative methods, and compassion for animals. Entries in this category will highlight rare or challenging cases, offering lessons that inspire advancements in wildlife veterinary practices.

Submissions will be evaluated an expert panel. The panel will assess articles and case studies based on originality, impact, scientific accuracy, and the potential to influence wildlife conservation or veterinary practices.

Winners will be presented with a certificate and a memento or medal. These awards aim to inspire ongoing scientific endeavours and serve as a reminder that meticulous research, innovative veterinary care, and thoughtful writing play vital roles in shaping the future of conservation.

The initiative reflects the AIZWV’s commitment to fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and collaboration. Both awards symbolize a step forward in encouraging researchers and field practitioners to contribute meaningfully to the fiel
